Ioannina Panorama Hike
Duration: 4 hours
Level of difficulty: Low
Meeting point: Ligiades parking lot, at the entrance of the village
Mitsikeli mountain (1,810m) stands between the mountains of Northern Pindos and reflects itself in the waters of Pamvotida Lake. Its name means “Bear’s den”. It is characterised by a slope covered with vegetation and another one, “naked”, made of limestone.
We will follow a circular hike which begins from the refuge (1280 m) and goes up to the mountain peak (1.810m). There, we will have the chance to look towards the Zagori villages, the Vikos Gorge, the lake and the city of Ioannina and the rest of the Pindus mountain range. Then, we will return to the refuge, and we will drive back to Ligiades where we can have a coffee facing Ioannina lake and city.
Different viewpoints give the hiker the chance to look towards the Zagori villages, The Vikos Gorge, the lake and the city of Ioannina, the mountains of Lefkada and Corfu or even Olympos if the weather permits it.
